Episode 5: The Trolley Problem

So, I just wrapped up the 1st draft of the script for episode 5, "The Trolley Problem and Its Real-World Ramifications" and I'm fairly pleased with the direction the bot and I went.

Now, I did take a risk by bringing up a real event that happened years ago and the bot and I looked at the event through the lens of the trolley problem, ethics and philosophy. I hoped to honor the victims of that event in such a way that people could see past the abstract thought experiment and see how ethics and morals applies to all of us.

I hope I did them proud.

I tend to see the trolley problem in everyday life, as we now make so many consequential decisions with little time to prepare and if we haven't taken the time to contemplate such things, the higher the chance that we may act in a way that we'll regret later on.

I also see how the trolley problem can apply to fast moving events that impact large groups of people--especially in terms of war, pandemic, and misinformation. I think that trolley problem can help us figure out how we will want to react when we have a major decision and the proverbial clock is ticking.

Then again, that could be my hypervigilance speaking.

I didn't explore war and the trolley problem with ChatGPT as I think that would take more than one episode and I wanted to talk about things that we can all relate to. Being a soldier in combat is not an experience most of us have.

Well, I'd love to know what you thought of the episode so take care and I'll post again soon.

Skipping a week

Sorry this week's episode didn't make it out, but look for it next Tuesday!
